The Truth Behind The Smoke

What Is
Vaping?

A vape or e-cigarette is an electronic device that heats a liquid β€” called e-liquid or vape juice β€” to produce a vapour that is inhaled. Companies marketed these as a 'safe alternative to smoking.' Science tells a very different story.

A single-use vape can contain as much nicotine as an entire packet of cigarettes. Young people become addicted faster and find it harder to quit β€” because their brains are still developing.

Social media platforms β€” Instagram, TikTok, YouTube β€” are glamorising vaping, making children fall victim to peer pressure and the pursuit of a 'cool' image. This is not cool. This is a crisis.

VAPING CONTAINS:
☠️
Toxic Chemicals That damage lung tissue permanently
πŸ§ͺ
Heavy Nicotine Concentration Multiple times more than cigarettes
πŸ”¬
DNA-Damaging Aerosols A proven pathway to cancer
🧠
Neurotoxins Causing permanent brain damage in youth
Health Hazards

8 Devastating Dangers
of Vaping

01
🫁
Lung Damage

Vaping causes EVALI β€” a serious, life-threatening lung disease. Toxic vapour permanently damages lung tissue, causing asthma, bronchitis, and irreversible injury.

02
❀️
Heart Damage

Vaping dramatically increases cardiovascular disease risk. Nicotine raises blood pressure and heart rate. Blood vessel narrowing has been reported even in teenagers.

03
🧠
Brain Damage

The most dangerous harm. A teenager's brain develops until age 25. Nicotine causes permanent damage to decision-making, memory, and attention β€” before victims realise they're addicted.

04
⛓️
Nicotine Addiction

A single vape contains the nicotine of an entire cigarette pack. Young people become addicted far more quickly β€” and breaking the habit becomes increasingly difficult.

05
🧬
DNA Damage

Vaping aerosols damage DNA, weaken antioxidant defences, and prevent normal cell growth. Research confirms this as a direct pathway to developing cancer.

06
🦷
Oral Health Damage

Vaping multiplies harmful bacteria in the mouth, causing severe gum disease, tooth discolouration, and significantly increased risk of mouth cancer.

07
πŸ˜”
Mental Health

Young vapers are significantly more prone to anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Some begin vaping out of sadness β€” vaping then makes them sadder still. A tragic cycle.

08
πŸ’Š
Gateway to Drugs

Vaping is consistently the first step. Research confirms young vapers are far more likely to progress to cigarettes, cannabis, and other dangerous substances.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is vaping really that dangerous, or is it just fear-mongering? +
The science is unambiguous. Multiple peer-reviewed studies confirm that vaping causes lung disease, cardiovascular damage, brain development disruption, DNA damage, and significantly increases cancer risk. These are not opinions β€” they are documented medical findings from research published in 2024–2025.
Is vaping better than cigarettes? +
Vaping is not safe β€” it is simply different. Some harms differ from cigarettes, but many are equal or worse. Critically, vapes often contain far more nicotine than cigarettes, making addiction faster and stronger β€” particularly devastating for developing young brains.
My child is already addicted. What do we do? +
First β€” do not panic or shame your child. Addiction is a medical condition, not a moral failing. Contact Aik Roshani for guidance and connect with a healthcare professional. Early intervention is critical. With proper support, recovery is absolutely possible.
How can I get Aik Roshani to run a workshop at our school? +
Contact us through our website at aikroshani.com/contacts. Our team will work with you to arrange a free awareness workshop for your school, college, or community centre. We are available across Pakistan's major cities.
What does Islam say about vaping? +
Islamic scholars widely regard vaping as haram (forbidden) because it causes clear harm to the body β€” and causing harm to oneself is prohibited in Islam. The Quran commands us to protect ourselves and our families. Vaping directly contradicts this divine obligation.
Why are young people in Pakistan especially at risk? +
The vaping industry deliberately targets youth through social media advertising and attractive flavours. Pakistan's rapid urbanisation, social media penetration, and peer culture have created a perfect storm. The $77 million market is growing β€” fuelled largely by teenage consumers.
Can vaping lead to other drugs? +
Yes. Research consistently shows that vaping is a gateway behaviour. Young people who vape are statistically far more likely to try traditional cigarettes, cannabis, and other substances. Addressing vaping early is one of the most effective ways to prevent broader drug use.
How does Aik Roshani fund this campaign? +
Our anti-vaping campaign is funded through Sadaqah donations and our general welfare fund. Every rupee goes directly to workshops, awareness materials, and community outreach. We publish full financial transparency reports annually. You can donate at aikroshani.com/donations.
