The Earth is an amanah β a sacred trust. As its stewards, we are accountable for every tree we fell, every river we poison, every species we silence. Aik Roshani's Climate & Environmental Programmes work to honour that trust β for the people living in climate vulnerability today, and for the generations who will inherit tomorrow.
A Planet in Crisis β And Those Who Suffer Most
The world's poorest communities β those who have contributed least to climate change β are suffering its consequences most acutely. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Sudan β the nations we serve are on the frontline of climate catastrophe.
Pakistan experiences catastrophic flooding almost every year β destroying homes, crops, and livelihoods. The floods of recent years have been among the worst in recorded history, displacing millions and leaving entire regions submerged. Aik Roshani responds with immediate relief and long-term resilience building.
Balochistan faces devastating drought conditions that strip communities of their primary water sources and agricultural livelihoods. Across our programme countries β Yemen, Somalia, Sudan β water scarcity is a daily existential crisis. Access to clean water is the foundation of all human dignity.
South Asia is experiencing some of the most extreme temperature rises on the planet. For outdoor workers, farmers, children, and the elderly β heatwaves are not just uncomfortable, they are lethal. Our programmes address this growing threat through shade projects, cooling centres, and heat-resilient agriculture.
Pakistan has lost significant forest cover in recent decades. Deforestation accelerates flooding, destroys biodiversity, and removes the natural climate regulation that communities depend on. Our tree-planting programmes work to reverse this damage β rooting communities in environmental resilience.
In Africa and parts of South Asia, productive agricultural land is being lost to advancing deserts. Families who have farmed the same land for generations find themselves unable to grow food. Our land restoration and sustainable agriculture programmes help communities fight back against desertification.
Climate change is becoming one of the world's primary drivers of forced displacement. As homes become uninhabitable β due to floods, drought, or extreme heat β families are forced to migrate, often becoming refugees with nowhere to go. Environmental action is refugee prevention.
What Aik Roshani Is Doing
From emergency flood response to long-term ecological restoration β our environmental programmes address both the immediate human cost of climate crisis and the underlying conditions that create vulnerability.
Mass tree-planting initiatives that restore forest cover, prevent soil erosion, reduce flooding risk, and rebuild the natural ecosystems that communities depend on for their livelihoods and climate stability.
Building deep water wells, hand pumps, water purification systems, and rainwater harvesting infrastructure β providing communities with sustainable access to clean, safe water for drinking, sanitation, and agriculture.
Training farmers in drought-resistant crop varieties, water-efficient irrigation techniques, and sustainable farming practices that maintain food production even under increasingly extreme climate conditions.
Beyond emergency relief β we build flood-resistant infrastructure, elevated shelters, and community early-warning systems that reduce the devastation of future floods before they occur.
Bringing solar-powered solutions to off-grid communities β lighting homes, powering water pumps, enabling schools, and reducing dependence on polluting fuels in the world's most energy-poor areas.
Raising awareness about environmental protection within communities β connecting Islamic principles of stewardship with practical conservation action, and equipping young people to be environmental advocates.
Pakistan β Our Environmental Frontline
Annual flood relief, water drainage projects, and resilient housing for communities devastated by Pakistan's most flood-prone province.
FLOOD RESPONSEDrought response, water well construction, rainwater harvesting, and alternative livelihood programmes for communities in severe water scarcity.
DROUGHT RESPONSEPost-earthquake environmental recovery, landslide prevention through reforestation, and glacial flood management in Pakistan's mountainous regions.
DISASTER RECOVERYSustainable agriculture training, water-efficient farming techniques, soil conservation, and green enterprise development in Pakistan's agricultural heartland.
GREEN AGRICULTUREClean Water Is Not A Luxury β It Is A Right
More than 880 million people around the world lack access to clean water. A single day without safe water is dangerous. A lifetime without it is a death sentence β slow, painful, and utterly preventable.
Aik Roshani's Water for Life programme builds deep water wells, hand pumps, water purification systems, and rainwater harvesting projects in the world's most remote and water-scarce communities.
"The best form of Sadaqah is giving water."
β PROPHET MUHAMMAD ο·Ί (AHMAD)A single clean water well β built through your Sadaqah Jariyah β can serve an entire community for decades. Every cup of water drawn from that well earns you reward.
Sadaqah Jariyah for entire communities β providing clean water for generations to come.
Cost-effective water access solutions for smaller villages and remote rural communities.
Water purification technology that transforms unsafe contaminated water into safe, clean drinking water.
Sustainable infrastructure that captures and stores rainfall for use during dry seasons β climate-smart water security.
